The Bolivar Belicosos Finos Reserva Cosecha 2016 is a luxurious, full-bodied Cuban cigar crafted exclusively for discerning aficionados. Measuring 5 1/2 inches (140 mm) with a 52 ring gauge in the iconic Campana (Belicoso) format, this limited-edition release uses only the finest long-filler tobaccos from Cuba’s renowned Vuelta Abajo region, all harvested in 2016 and aged for a minimum of three years before rolling. Each cigar is hand-rolled and presented in lacquered boxes of 20, with only 5,000 individually numbered boxes released worldwide. The addition of the black and silver Reserva band distinguishes this cigar as a rare collector’s item, offering a refined, complex smoking experience that celebrates Bolivar’s robust heritage.

This is the first time that Bolivar has been given the honour of creating a Reserva cigar and the first time that a non-global brand has been selected. This is an exclusive 2020 release of 5,000 boxes, each containing 20 cigars. The tobacco used for this cigar was harvested in 2016 and specially aged for a minimum of three years before rolling the cigars. 

Founded in 1901 by José F. Rocha, Bolivar is one of the most storied and respected Cuban cigar brands. Named after Simón Bolívar, the legendary South American liberator, the brand embodies strength, boldness, and a spirit of independence. Bolivar cigars are renowned for their robust character, full-bodied profile, and complex flavours, making them a favourite among seasoned cigar aficionados. Production moved to Havana’s iconic Partagás factory in 1954, and Bolivar has since maintained a reputation for exceptional quality and consistency, using only the finest Vuelta Abajo tobacco leaves. 

BOLIVAR BELICOSOS FINOS RESERVA COSECHA 2016 TASTING NOTES 

- Initial Third: Opens with bold notes of graham cracker, rich earth, and a touch of dried fruit and spice. Sweet molasses undertones create a fruitcake-like effect, with subtle pepper and nuttiness.

- Middle Third: Dark chocolate and roasted coffee become more pronounced, blending seamlessly with the earthy foundation. Hints of leather, toasted nuts, and a gentle creaminess develop, adding depth and complexity.

- Final Third: The profile intensifies with pronounced wood, black tea, walnut, and mocha. A distinctive “lemony” acidity - characteristic of Bolivar - appears, balanced by honeyed sweetness, nuts, and spices for an exciting, lingering finish.

- Aroma: Expect a bouquet of cedar, leather, earth, and roasted coffee, complemented by subtle floral and sweet notes. The smoke is creamy, dense, and full-bodied, with a velvet-like texture and a satisfying draw.

- Mouthfeel: The cigar is smooth and chewy, with a firm construction and a consistently even burn. The belicoso shape ensures an effortless draw and a comfortable grip.
